Firecracker Display Over Pootung

Plenty of noise and occasional coloured sprays from skyrockets formed the display sponsored by the "Shanghai Nippo," "Shanghai Mainichi" and the "Sin Shun Pao" yesterday evening to celebrate the fall of Hankow. The display started with a great deal of smoke and noise at about 5 o'clock, but it was not till darkness fell that the skyrockets, similar to those fired a few days back to celebrate the fall of Canton, went up, being fired from a point in Pootung near the Jardine wharf and also from a point near "Battleship Row."

There seemed to be less enthusiasm and interest ilisplayed in the Central Districts, though small crowds gathered here and there along the Bund to watch the free show. No damage was sustained by the U.S.S. Augusta this time.
