Variety of Services

Most of these candidates, as well as the boarders, are young women and girls with am unsatisfactory kind of job, or with no job at all. Gov-nesses, trained nurses, milliners, manicurists, stenographers, housekeepers, teachers, hairdressers, dressmakers—these are but a few examples of the various specialists that can be found here. The Hostel Committee recommends only those of the boarders who redly deserve a good break, and therefore all those who apply there for some kind of a spect alist are sure to get somebody who is really fit for the job. This is an enviable reputation and one they intend to maintain in future.

As to those who have no profession or speciality of any kind, they have a chance of learning something useful, while they are staying at the Hoste]. The Committee is working in close ce-operation with the Ecole Professionnelle Frangaise, and a number of women and girls from the Hostel study there, with the Sassoon Charity Fund paying the fees. There are also some who enjoy scholarships grouted by the Ecole Professionnelle itself.
