New York Stocks

Wednesday's Closing Quotations

New York, Nov. 9.

Stock prices on Wall Street today opened strongly in a session of brisk and very active trading. Better than expected Republication gains were construed by operators as being very favourable to the stock market, and this resulted in an avalanche of buying orders being released. All sections participated in the broad advance, and, due to the volume of business passing, the tickers soon fell behind. Favourable business news further aided sentiment, and steels, motors and oils were particular fav-eurites, The advance attracted realizing and profit taking, which however, were well absorbed. During the afternoon, the market displayed further strength, with the upward adjustment gaining momentum. Trading at the close was brisk, with the turnover for the day amounting to 3,100,000 shares.
