securi o min "Eco London, July 24.

Officials of the Port of London Authority state that observations were made by aircraft at midnight on the visibility of the Tilbury Dock area under blackout conditions, in order to examine the ability of the Port of London io harry on un wartime.

Special lighting devices evolved allowed dockyard work to continue unbatnpered. In their first large scale trial, hundreds of lamps were screwed on the dockside in such a way that, though they were expected to be invisible from above, they allowed work to proceed normally in the thirteen berths used for the test.

During the blackout, six ships were loaded or unloaded, while transit cargo went from dock sheds to slower internal roads and railways. Special navigation lights were used. The blackout was watched by Government experts.—Reuter.
