Evening Bags

Along with all the brilliant and beautiful things that come for evening are smart bags of ancient Persian brocades.. Women who have already developed a taste for these appreciate the mounting set with large stones variously cut. Big oval carnelians are set end to end in finely wrought gold across the entire frame at the top of the bag; labis is cut square and set with an alternating square of gold. Less massive are some mountings entirely of delicately patterned gold with only a jeweled clasp; this is a large oval stone descending on the brocade.

Beautiful to wear with black are coral brocade with frames set with coral stone, or green with chrysophrase. Out of decorative bags women will draw equally decorative cigarette cases. An exciting novelty is one having the top of stones i many colors set like the glass in church windows; like glass, they are translucent, Chunky stones are popular in costüme jewelry; both vanities and cigarette cases of silver or gold are set either with cabochon turquoise on labis. Looking as if made of cut crystal. another cigarette case of composition is bound at the edges in gold.
