British Comment

London, Oct. 3.

Signor Mussolini is ready to take part in negotiations through diplomatic channels, the "Sunday Times" declared: to-day, commenting optimism tically on the joint Franco-British note handed to Count Ciano yesterday.

"It is possible that discussions will take place through normal diplomatic channels, as is reported to be desired by Italy," the journal stated. "It is not likely that tee note contains any threat that failing an agreement France would reopen her frontier to the supplying of arms to the Spanish Government. The readiness of Italy to withdraw her volunteers from Spain providing that a corresponding withdrawal has taken place on the Government side is not regarded -in London as inconsistent with Mussolini's declaration that he could never consent to a Bolshevist government in Spain."—Havas.
