While, as far as it is known, no Jewish homes have been wrecked in Berlin, there are numerous instances in the provinces in which Jewish businesses have not been touched by the mobs, who have concentrated their fury on Jewish homes. These were broken into and furniture clothing and even fittings thrown into the streets and burned, while everything of value was stolen.
All documents and papers of value were systematically burned, including the large sums of money that Jews kept at home because they did not trust the banks.
There were many cases where owners of homes were taken to the police station and crowded together in cellars. Later, they were sent back to their homes which they found had been emptied, and only the clothes they wore remained to them.
