In anticipation of a larger catch of crabs in the North Sea, the Nippon Fishery Company has recently filed an application withthe Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry for increase of this year's crab catch permission volume, it was disclosed at authoritative quarters.
If the Ministry authorities accept the application, the total vc'ume of ed crabs for the entire present ^or will reach 220,000 cases, which will be 40,000 cases more than the year before, There are many indications that permission will be granted. in consideration: of the following factors.
l. It is expected that the catch of crabs off the coasts of Hokkaido and the Kuriles Islands this year will make a drop of 20 per cent, from a year ago, notwithstanding the anticipated good catch in the North Sea.
Even if the catch by the Nippon Fishery Company is restrained to some extent, Soviet ships would catch crabs in a reckless manner.
