Premier's Assailant May Be Man with Limp Lisbon, July 6.
Police combed the capital yesterday for a mysterious man with a limp as they rounded up suspects of the attempted assassination of the Premier, Dr. de Oliveira Salazar, on Sunday morning.
Several were taken into custody though the police believe it was a very small ring of conspirators who hatched the plot to bomb the Premier on his way to church and that several of them are foreigners.
Nothing is known about the man with the limp except that he hobbled away from the scene while others were crowding to see what had happened. The Premier, it will be recalled, barely escaped from being killed as he alighted from his car at the home of Dr. Jose Torcatos where he attends mass on Sundays. A bomb planted in the sewer underneath the sidewalk was apparently set off by ihe pressure of his foot on the pavement.—Havas,
