Chinese Cabin Boy Appeal Rejected

London, Dec. 2.

The Judicial Committee of the Privy [Council, in a reserved judgment today, dismissed the appeal of the cabin boy, Cheung Chung-chi, against his conviction and death sentence in Hongkong in 1997 for the murder of the British captain of a Customs Jcruiser in the territorial waters of Hongkong.

The point for the five Judges to decide was whether the territorial immunity of the cruiser as an armed vessel visiting a State extended to all members of the crew.

Delivering the committee's judg-iment, Lord Atkin recalled that both the cabin boy and the captain were British nationals.
