A suit for £500, charging wrongful dismissal, has been filed against the Shanghai Municipal Council by of Mr.
Patrick J. Kelly, a former sergeant in the Settlement Police. The ection will be brought before the Court of Consuls next Tuesday. The Court will be composed of Mr. Clarence E. Gauss, American Consul-General; Sir Herbert Phillips, British Consul-General, afd Mr. Miura, Japanese Consul-General, Mr. Gauss will preside, and Mr. E A. Long is of 3 Messrs. Ellis & Hays will represent the plaintiff, Mr. Kelly was a detective-sergeant attached to Central Police Station when he was dismissed last spring. Besides £500 compensation, [he asks a further amount to reimburse him for passage to England.
