The official celebrations of July 14 ever, there were still the iliumin tions in the French Concession, and on several buildings along The Bund, to finish off France's national day In the evening. In addition, crowds collected along The Bund watch a searchlight display given jointly by the Japanese flagship, the Tdzumo, and the French flagship, the Lamotte Piequet.
At first, some wondered when they searchlights from the Idzumo sweeped the sky, but i was roon evident that they were interplaying with those of the Lamotte Picquet to make a brilliant display which could be seen for miles around.
Among the buildings on The Bund Muminated for July 14 were the Hongkong & Shanghai Bank bulld~ ing, and. the Banque de L'Indo-Chine, and in addition many buildings were flood lit,
