Police Outplayed By P.T.H.

Ward Given Little Chance Against School Attackers In 1st Division Football The Public and Thomas Hanbury

School made a favourable debut in the First Division when they triumphed over the Police eleven by the score of four to two at the Race Course yesterday before a large crowd.

The Police fielded several new players, but these were hardly "p to the First Division standard, Willie Ward played a good game and the four goals chalked against him were shots which came from such a distance that it would have been a miracle had he saved them. Victal and Stangaard did their share well, but they were badly served by the half-line-McAloon, the star of Seaforths last year, did not come up to expectations, being erratic and slow. The forward line lacked cohesion, Duffy heins the only player up to the first division calibre. The School on the whole were good. Strengthened by Hans Park, their defence played a sterling game and rarely allowed the Police forwards to come near the goal.
