by President Washington, Nov. 23. There are indications that the Administration is putting greater emphasis on a truce with utility, interests than on tax revision as a business stimulant, President Roosevelt to-day, after a 90-minute talk with Mr.
Wendell Wilkie, president of the Commonwealth and Southern Corporation, reported that distinct progress had been made towards composing the differences between the Administration and private utilities.
Mr. Wilkie, speaking for himself, agreed with the President's theory of common law valuation for utilities in determining rates to consumers, and also that the Government should sell power from its venous projects. The President declared they came to. an understanding that $1,250,000,000 or $1,500,000,000 could be spent usefuly on utility construction.—Reuter.
