Editor of Nanking Daily Killed by Shrapnel Hankow, Dec, 27-
It is learnt that Mr. Hsiao Han-chu, editor-in-chief of the "Hsing Hua Jih Pao," one of the leading newspapers in Nanking, was killed during the Japanese air bombardment of Pukow on December 11.
Throughout the hostilities around the capital, Mr. Hsiao had stuck to his post, displaying great courage in directing the work of his staff. It was only when the Japanese had entered and occupied the Kwanghua Men (gate) on December 11, that he crossed the Yangtze to Pukow with his staff When they reached Pukow a squadron of Japanese aeroplanes attacked the railway station. Disregarding his personal safety, Mr. Lis instructed staff to take refuge. Just then, a heavy piece of shrapnel pierced his right chest, and he succumbed soon afterwards—Kuo Min,
