Tha Imperia) Airways Empire flying-boat Centaurus, which left Southampton on December 3 on 30,000-mile survey flight to Australia and New Zealand, arrived here today after covering the 1,300-mile hop from Sydney in eight hours.
The Centaurus flew over the Imperial Airways marine air route to Karachi and then followed the proposed flying-boat route via Calcutta and Singapore to Port Darwin. its hop to-day represented the first commercial survey flight ever made by a flying-boat across the Tasman Sea,—Reuter.
