The revolution broke. Colombo made his way through Siberia, Scenes of terror and confusion surrounded him, He reached Vladivostok pen-niles, filthy, and desperate.

But his fame had gone ahead, He sailed for Japan. In Tokyo he played before members of the Imperial Family.

From Tokyo he went to Hongkong, from Hongkong to Singapore. Thence he travelled to the Dutch East Indies, to Canada, and, in 1920, to England.

His playing attracted the attention of the Duke and Duchess of York, who invited him to play to their guests. Later he received similar invitations from the Prince of Wales and other members of the Royal Family.

The blade attachment is designed to prevent loads and stresses "building up" on the hinges at the rotor head. thereby enabling the designer to keep down the weight of the mechanism and to provide light and untiring flying control, The aircraft is controlled about all axes by change of blade incidence, without actual tilting of the whole rotor head, Two finger-tip controls, the control column and the lift lever, govern this mechanism, by means of which the gyroplane may be climbed, turned, banked or dived.

In his paper before the Royal Aeronautical Society on 14th October, Mr. Hafner described the technique of take-off and descent, He said: "With the wheel brakes on, the pitch control lever is set forward to the non-lift angle and the rotor clutch is brought gradually into engagement, where it is held by a pawl.
