Hanoi in Flight

Possible Statements Not Concern of Government Or Kuomintang

Hongkong, Dec. 28.

The Colony is full of rumours that Mr. Wang Ching-wei, who recently left Chungking so suddenly, has actually arrived here, but these rumours are denied by responsible circles.

The local Chinese press alleges that he arrived at Kowloon from Hanoi in the Jardine's steamer Isang on December 26, but several foreign pressmen who boarded the Isang declare Mr. Wang Ching-wei was definitely not on board.

All indications are to the effect that Mr. Wang Ching-wei is still in Hanoi He is even reported to be "stud there, without pepers or passport. Therefore, it is stated, although Mr. Wang is said to intend to proceed to Hongkong, passport arrangements may take at least some days, if they are at all possible to carry through.

It is reliably learned that Mr. Wang's departure from Chungking was in the nature of a flight, taken without the knowledge of the Chinese Government.

Reliable Chinese sources here understand thet "whatever statement Mr. Wang Chirg-wei makes lits nothing to do with General Chiang Kai-shek, the Central Government or the Kuomintang."

It is freely rumoured among the Chinese here that General Doihare has arrived off Hongkong waters in warship, but this is strongly discredited in responsible circles" here.—Reuter.
