U.S. COMMODITIES

Monday's Closing Quotations

New York, Jan. 3.

The cotton market early advanced moderately on covering, trade and Wall Street buying and higher Bombay cables. Finally, the market partially eased on liquidation, with operators awaiting Washington developments and closed fairly active and steady, with quotations ranging from 2 points up to 3 points down.

Prices in the rubber market took a tumble to-day, on disappointing cables, an absence of demand and increased stocks in the United Kingdom. At the last call-over, losses of 43 to 49 points were recorded.

Wheat prices in Chicago early eased on liquidation, but later firmed up on a firm Winnipeg market, a favourable cash demand and generally better cables. At the final bell, gains of 5% of a cent. were registered.
