Her Shanghai Life

Collaborating with Mr. Chin Li, her elder brother and mayor of Chi-chiher, she and the two officers negotiated with Gen. Ssu' Ping-wen in order to save the 300 Japanese who were detained by tne anti-Manchou-kuan general. Here spe served with the Japanese forces as an intelligence officer and is said to have volunteered to drop into the enemy lines there by parachute from an aeroplane.

Recently, in Jehol, she organized a cavalry corps, called Tingkuochun, and became a modern Joan of Are, riding at the head of her troops. In Shanghai she was well-known in most of the local cabarets, sometimes visiting these places in manly garb. accompanied by girls. Usually her dress consisted of ordinary riding dress, with jack boots and stick in ing the honour of being one t people to place the Japar ese nag on China's Great Wall, Mi mawashima's career, which earned for her the respect of the Japanese arm; and navy and the enmity of many in China, has come to an end. She lived a dangerous life and her end, although regrettable, was perhaps more fitting than the ordinary death through old age. Her exploits will be handed down to posterity in her adopted country.
