Warmth and Comfort

The Thames River Ambulance Service is a new branch of our work. On these launches which ply up and down the river, the crews include Red Cross Members in their smart and serviceable uniform of navy trousers, coat and storm cap to keep out the wind and rain. And finally there are the staffs of the Ambulance Trains and the little groups of part-time workers, who will be always ready if need be, day or night, at stations all over the country with hot drinks and refreshments, ready to bring warmth and comfort to the weary travellers in the hospital trains bound for an unknown destination, "somewhere in Blighty."
