Reserved Attitude

Rome, Sept. 11.

Officials here maintain a strictly reserved attitude toward the conferlence at Nyon, but it is believed that Italy is not opposed in principle to the acceptance of a Mediterranean control zone plan.

Any acceptance is likely" to be hedged with reservations, and it is believed that it will be clearly stipulated that Italy will not tolerate the presence of any Soviet Russian warships in the Mediterranean, She may also insist on the participation of Germany, as one of the original naval, control powers, and also that any invitation will' have to emanate from the Non-Intervention Committee after the Italian delegate has had the opportunity of expressing Italian views and voicing possible amendments.—Reuter.
