A new drive by the Japanese to secure foreígn credits for indirect use in the Sino-Japanese war is montia; ed to-day by the "News-Chronicle' which points out that Japan has apparently abandoned hope of securing direct state loan from either England or the United States.
The Japanese Government's new move, the journal states, is to use private trading companies 2s a screen to obtain foreign credits.
For instance, the "News-Chronicle" asserts, the South Manchuria Railway is negotiating in Switzerland with Credit Suisse and other banks for a substantial loan, while the Japanese Corporation of Foreign Trade, which is registered in Manchoukuo, and the Heavy Industries Development Corporation of Japan have despatched emissaries to Europe and the United States to seek credits.—Reuter.
