Attention to Hungary

Hungary, whose relations with Rumania have not been extremely friendly during recent times, took up much of the Foreign Minister's speech.

Rumania has made every attempt to smooth out the difficulties with that country, he said.

"To the Hungarian demarche of August 24, 1939, which expressed concern at the defence measures taken by Rumania, I replied by the specific offer of a non-aggression pact," he stressed.

The Minister added that so far no reply to the offer had been received from Hungary, but he would continue to make every attempt to find a formula which would result an an agreement based on the principles laid down during the conference of the Balkan Entente at Bled last year.
