A "North-China Daily News" reporter who made a surreptitious tour of the Eggfried Line yesterday was struck with the completeness of the sand-bag fortifications. It was really an ingenious piece of work, erected after many hours of strenuous labour on the part of Army "engineers" and much barking of hoarse-voiced sergeant "scientists" who directed the operations. The dugout was built to withstand shot and shell but it lacked the comfort of another famous fortification, the Maginot Line. The "Eggtried Line" is no defence against Old Man Winter.
