Tientsin, Mar. 7.
RITISH and French Cor alled on the Japanese authorities yesterday, it that they still had no reply to their rece: and reminded them demarches, in which they asked airist whom the barricades around the Britis h and French Concessions were d ted and when they would be moved They pressed for a speedy answer to these points.
The artificial restrictions around the two cone loi so far from having been reduced, appear to have been intensified in the last few days.
A tour of the foreign boundaries today by Reuter'* correspondent, revealed that the British and French Cone have been converted into a virtual concentration camp.
An impenetrable network of barricades and live-wires completely shuts off all exits except for a few major thoroughfares, which are all heavily guarded at the border by armed Japanese sentries and Chinese police, Traffic, however. has not been interfered with up to the present.
Adding am ominous note, machine-emplacements have been built at strategic points, pointing to the foreign areas. Barricades have also been placed along the streets of the special areas in the blocks adjoining the Concessions, causing much inconvenience to puzzled residents, who, in order to reach their homes, must travel considerable distances, as if through a labyrinth.
