Following the approval of the reports, the Committee adopted the following resolution, which will be immediately submitted to the Assembly for consideration.
The Assembly:
Approves the proposal contained, in ihe second report and requests the President to take the necessary action in meeting of Expresses moral support for China and recommends that members of the League should refrain from taking any action which might have the effect of weaken-Ing China's power of resistance and thus increasing her difficulties in the present confid, and should also consider how far they can individually extend ald to China:
Decides to adjourn the present session, and authorizes the President to summon a further meeting at the request of the Advisory Committee.
The resolution, which is expected to be passed by the Assembly without opposition, is much more favourable to China than once seemed likely and there is ground for belief that President Roosevelt's speech influenced the decision. It is now expected that, with this approval, the meeting of Pacific powers, which will probably be held in London in the, near irre, will be able to give some effective aid io China.
