Quadrangular Contest

The present fifteen, now in Shanghai, played in Hongkong last year and emerged brilliantly from their engagements. While they were unable to defeat the representative Hongkong eleven, they triumphed over the Hongkong Rugby Club in the last important match of last season, They will be welcomed with open arms by the local teams who are looking forward to the best of competition. Indications point to a quadrangular competition between four senior teams which should provide spectators with some excellent fare.

The four teams concerned are the Shanghai Rugby Union Football Club 1st fifteen, the Welch Regiment, the Loyal Regiment and the Fourth U.S. Marines. It is difficult to predict the winner of a series played between these four teams, but undoubtedly all matches in such a series would provide some of the finest competition and all followers of the handling game will look forward to the first meeting between any of these teams.

Not only will the Army provide competition in rugger circles, but the British Navy will also make an endeavour to prove that the senior service are equally good on the field of sport as their rivals, and H.M.S. Danae, and other British ships will field fifteens which are expected to give some very good matches.
