Work of the Volunteers

Singapore, Feb. 2.

Seven Royal Navy volunteer reserve vessels sail out to sea from here every night during the current naval manceuvres to do their part.

The ships are manned by volunteers who work in local offices during the day and forego sleep at night to aid in strengthening the defences of the island.

Certain submarines and destroyers were allocated to the naval force defending Singapore to-day. H.M.S. Medway is remaining at the naval base as mother ship.—United Press.
