The meeting between Mr, Eden and the Italian'and French Ambassadors, which was held subsequently at the Foreign Office, lasted half an hour.
Mr. Eden submitted certain proposals in regard to the tightening of the anti-piracy patrol system which the French Ambassador, M. Charles Corbin, and the Italian' Ambassador, Count Dino Grandi, undertook to submit to their Governments.
The nature of the proposals has not been disclosed.
The French and Italian Ambassadors telegraphed the proposals to their governments to-night, Italian circles in London declare that Italy is solidly behind the Nyon Agreement, and is determined to do everything possible to stamp out piracy.
They ridicule the suggestion that Italy has supplied Gen. Franco with submarines and also the report that Italy intended to send 40,000 troops to Spain.
The French view is that everything must be done to make the anti-piracy patrol effective.
The British Government has already brought the British patrol up to the original strength, and has replaced the vessels withdrawn when it appeared that the Nyon Agreement had driven pirates from the Mediterranean.—Reuter,
