Three men, one of them armed with an automatic pistol, entered a Chinese house at 519 Chekiang Road, shortly after 10 p.m. last night and intimidate ed the inmates with one exception, and this exception was to be their down-fall, as one of the persons in the house at the time managed to sneak out by a rear door and advised a policeman near the scene of the crime. Subsequently one of the trio was arrested, whilst the other two managed to escape.
It could not be learned last night, whether the man now being detained in the Louza Police Station was the into darken one carrying the weapon. The thug Was being questioned by detectives at a late hour last night and, it was believed, is the member of a gang which has perpetrated a large number of armed robberies in the Central and Louza districts during the past lew months.
