Charges of theft of over 80 bales of cotton from the Wing On Textile Manufacturing Co's godown, 1616 Yanztszepoo Road. near Meichow Road. were filed against Mr. Wong Sam-tu. American citizen. by Mr.
Leighton Shields. District Attorney in U.S. Court for China yesterday.
Arrested with 24 others, including tea boys and coolies, in a room in Yangtse Hotel. Hankow Road, by detectives of Louza Station, the accused is awaiting trial before Judge Milton J. Helmick. Bail of U.S.-
$1000 has been fixed.
According to the charges. the accased was said to have conspired w a group of Chinese to break into t warehouse. He id to have paid $100 to one Wong Yung-chiao to get boats and coolies and another $100 to bribe cotton thieves. The crime was said to have been perpetrated in the evening of January 28.
