For the second production of their 1937/38 season, the Russian Light Opera have selected V. Bromme's "Marion's Wedding," a smooth-flowing operetta which has never been produced in Shanghai before—on Saturday in the Lyceum. Those in charge include L. Rosen, Z. Bitner and V. Valin.
Heading one of the largest casts, which this company has introduced on the Lyceum stage in many months, are Orlovskaya, Valin and Bitner, while in supporting roles, oth: popular members, such as Novatskaya, D'Oder, Slobodsky and Andreev will be found. A large group of extra relatives, marines and guests suppos in choral work and in the ensembles.
Volsky again is presenting a spectacular ballet, one item being based on "Let Yourself Go" adapted from "Follow the Fleet." It is said that Valin, in playing Capt. Krag, will be in his element as an old seadog, and will introduce some barnacle slang into his lines.
