A Foolish Question

"Wmo's the laziest man in the world?" asks a correspondent, who really ought to know better, and then goes on to supply his own answer:—"The taipan who got his clerk to work out his cross-word for him.

Of course, it's all wrong, because there was the taipan who wouldn't even take that much trouble.

The Old Gag "Japanese forces in the Hongkew ahd Ya tszepoo areas are there to defend those sections of the International Settlement assigned to them under the Joint Defence Scheme and are not "occupying" the Settlement zones north of Soochow (Creek, Japanese naval and diplomatic spokesmen emphasized at a press conference Monday morning."

Well, we suppose, after all they must have their little joke.

Worser and Worser "Tue lull was believed by military circles, however, to be an ominous calm presaging another impending storm."

You know this local "it-hurts-me-more-than-it-does-you" is getting more and more serious. Last week we were treated to an impending doom, and now they are handing us out an impending storm.
