To the Editor of the "NortieCutixa Daly News"
SmI read in a recent issue of
of his" passing away in Hongkong that gallant race pony Silkylight and after a sudden ffiness. While his death is a matter to be much zegretted, it is comforting to know that he did' not share the fate of at least one Of his one-time stable mates, Teylight, Which T'diseovered some time ago living under appalling conditions in Shanse Road livery stable {rom where he pulled a public carriage on those days when his lameness was not too apparent. Again visiting the Stable T found that he had been sent {o' Chinese slaughter house where the method of despatching is as erne! a it Is possible to conceive. Surely these gallant litre beasts which afford so much pleasure to their owners on the race track, the hunting field or as hacks, are worthy of a better fate. Hons.
