The Japanese Denial

IMPORT DUTY

To the Editor of the "Nomzu-CHiNA Dary NEWS"

Sm,—With regard to the categorical denial by Tokyo of the non-payment -of import duty of Japanese goods, I would suggest that you, as a newspapermen, should immediately proceed to 13 The Bund. People there are able to tell you whether Japanese merchants have sent in any import applications since the outbreak of hostilities. They are also able to tell you whether Japanese shipping companies have presented any manifest to the Customs.

l understand that 13 The Bund is just a few minutes walk from your office. Investigation "on the spot" is, I should say, far better than reliance en Reuters.
