American Red Cross officials here directing the relief funds drive supported by President Roosevelt. on behalf of Chinese refugees in war-torn areas of China said to-day that the campaign was progressing successfully but could not give the exact amount collected thus far.

Thus far 3,700 local Red Cross units have not yet been asked to report in exact figures regarding the progress of the China relief fund drive, Red Cross officials here explained. They said, however, that $60,000 had reached headquarters thus far, but pointed out that this was no indication whatever of the total amount collected thus far. The date for the end of the campaign has not yet been set.

President Roosevelt opened the campaign several weeks ago, appealing to Americans throughout the United States to contribute "gener ously and promptly" to the Red Cross drive which aims at a $1,000,-

000 fund for the Chinese refugees.
