Last night, firemen from Central Station turned out once more to the Joint Savings Society godown in North Thibet Road. a godown made famous by the "Lone Battalion" which refused to retreat from Chapel with the rest of the Chinese forces. They finally left the god on Octobe: and fire hoses were then turned on the burned buildings from the Settlement.
At 8.16 o'clock last night, the Fire Brigade, to its intense surprise, was summoned to the godown once more; some of the grain which had been tored there was apparently still smouldering from the fire of nearly three weeks ago.
