Berlin, Nov. 18.
The German press continues to be very reticent in its comments on the political importance of the visit of Lord Halifax.
The "Lokalanzeiger" compares the forthcoming conversation between Lord Halifax and Chancellor Hitler with a slender thread destined to render negotiations possible, while the "Essener Nationalzeitung" writes ES that 25 years of misunderstanding cannot be bridged over in a single conversation and that the visit of Lord Halifax can therefore only be "either a beginning or a failure."
Politico] circles here generally take the view that it would be perfectly comprehensible if the visit were only a first stop in the direction of establishing better relations between London and Berlin—Trans-Ocean.
