During the emergency period there was an elaboration of the ordinary arrangements for mutual support between the British and French waterworks and the number off cross-connections were increased in readiness for a possible breakdown of one of the services. At the request of the SMC. the Waterworks participated in emergency measures for a limited water supply under the possibility of the Yangtszepoo plant being put out of action.
