Gen, Chen Chi-tang Makes) Speech at Service

Chungking, Jan. 9.

The presence in Chungking of General Chen Chi-tang, former Chairman of the South-west Political Council in Canton, is indicated by an official announcement in the press this morning.

In his speech, General Chen Chi-tang declared that those who used to be sceptical about China's chances in the war against Japan now "no longer entertain such doubts, as 30 months of war have proved that China is making progress in the military as well as, political sphere, while Japan has suffered heavy losses and is facing a serious economic crisis."—Reuter.
