Berlin, Mar, 8.
Contrary to expectations business on to-day's share market was still weak. To some extent the declining prices were due to sales of stock on foreign account for the liquidation of blocked Mark accounts. Besides the approach of the quarterly tax settlement on March 10 led to sales for the purpose of obtaining cash. Under these circumstances the issue of numerous favourable balance sheets showing increased dividends was unable to take effect in stimulating the trend, the turnover remaining small.
The trend in fixed interest securities on the other hand was very friendly. As far as could be ascertained no selling order was prompted by the necessity for obtaining ready cash for paying taxes, the holders of these securities consisting mostly of persons investing for long terms.
Callmoney was quoted at 2% to 2% per cent—Trans-Ocean.
