Hears $100,000,000 in Four Lots Now Sought Washington, Jan, 13.
The possibility of a new American loan to China was discussed by President Roosevelt yesterday with Mr. James Moffett, vice president of the California-Texan Oil Ca, and former chairman of the National Petroleum War Service Commission.
Mr. Moffett said as he emerged from the White House that he and the President had also conferred on other aspects of the situation in China.
Chinese officials, Mr. Moffett said, are seeking additional credits in the United States to supplement the original sem{-official loan of $25,000,000 by the Export Import Bank in 1938.
The Chinese Government, he said, hopes to obtain total credits of about 310000000 in the United States in blocks of $25,000,000.
Despite the war in China, Mr. Moffett said, the Chinese Government is steadily amortizing its present credit from the Export Import Bank. He said he anticipates, however, that spreading Japanese military operations might interfere with Chinese export channels in coming months.
Mr. Moffett said he gave the Pressident confidential information which agents of his company in interior China had assembled in recent weeks.—United Press.
