The Reid Basketball Challenge Series for ladies, which is an annual sporting event at the Navy Y.M.C.A., was brought to a successful close last Monday evening when the last three sessions of the competition were played off. Erin Villa went through the whole schedule of five matches without a single defeat, and with this fine record the team won the coveted trophy. Finishing second were the Greens who lost only to the champions in the first week's play early in December.
These two teams were the strongest in a field of six and were ably coached by two U.S, Marine stars, Dingwall for Erin Villa and Sergent for Greens. The group pictures show the members of the two leading sides. The action pictures show Miss Lily Chao, the best player on the League of Pals, aiming to shoot a free throw and Miss Lois Ellis, star forward on Erin Villa, manceuvring for the basket in one of the raids launched by the champions against the League of Pals.
