China Pony's Perfect

HORSE'S HOOFS

To the Editor of the News"

Str,—I notice the inquiry from your correspondent Younc Horseman, and your footnote that it me what difficult to describe the appearance of the perfect hoof of a horse: your reply is quite to the point.

As seeing is believing. I recommend Yovxc Horseman to look and study the hoofs (feet) of the China pony whose hoofs are perfect; at least 1 am prepared to believe from long observations of the horse in many other countries that the hoofs of the China pony, are almost 99.99 per cent. perfect. They are neither too steep to the ground nor too flat on the ground and they are beautifully symmetrical and sound and of a fitting size to suit their body outline and weight, The horse, I may add, had in ages past a cloven hoof similar to the Ox and several other animals but it became united long ago, the jointure in the hoof is still quite perceptible just as our human foot shows distinctly the instep formerly required for tree-climbing.

Much more might be said, but I hope your youthful correspondent will ind some satisfaction in the little I have penned,
