Eddie Cantor is celebrating liver jubilee on the stage, and e will be great doings at a banquet attended by many famous persons in the film and stage world. Cantor, whose real name is Izzy Lzcovitch, first came into the public eye when he met Irving Berlin and ug one of his songs. It was at once clear that a rare personality had appeared and very soon Florenz Ziegfeld, with his unerring eye for ut, snapped him up and made him famous.
Even now it is difficult to say whether Cantor should be regarded as a film or a stage star. Obviously, his film reputation is the wider but ihe screen has enabled tens of millions all over the world to see those rolling eyes, while it would have been impossible for one-hundredth part of them to enter the biggest New York theatre.
