Hankow, Dec. 28.
A Trans-Ocean representative today interviewed a number of leading Chinese in order to discover their views concerning the rumours that China was on the way to being "bolshevized."
At the headquarters of the Chinese Communist party, he received the assurance that, although the party still continued to exist it had nevertheless renounced for the time being the carrying out of its programme of confiscation of private property and the overthrow of the existing government by force. The danger to which China was exposed had caused the Communist party to seek ce-operation with the Central Government in order to strengthen the resistance to Japan, Therefore the Red Army as such had been dissolved and had been incorporated in the Central army.
It was further stated that the Communist party did not insist on Soviet Russian intervention but would welcome help from any side. The future. of the Chinese Communist party after the war could not yet be foreseen. It was nevertheless certain that should the party be recognized as a legal body it would be prepared to work together with the government in full con: us-ness of its responsibilities as independent party.
