U.S. STUDENTS ARE

AGAINST JAPAN

Girls Wear Rayon Stockings to Urge Silk Boycott Poughkeepsie, New York, Dec. 28.

Five hundred delegates representing 20,000 students in 150 universities opened the third annual convention of the American Student Union today with united support for the Loyalist forces in Spain and a denunciation of Japan. Many of the girl delegates wore artificial silk stockings in support of the boycott against Japanese silk.

The most important item on the agenda was a discussion of the Oxford pledge—an oath not to support the government of the nation "in any war it may undertake." Strong campaigning on the question was expected before the pro or con vote scheduled for Thursday.—United Press.
