Penetration of Nationalist troops into Catalonia aroused fears for the fate of 50,000 Anarchists, Communists and Syndicalists who have been advancely condemned to death in the event the Nationalists seize Barcelona.
The manifesto issued by the women's organizations to-day was an attempt to rally support for the Republican Government orders that all men in Catalonia enlist for military service immediately in an attempt to halt the Nationalist drive.
Republican troops were forced to fiee from Fraga after 160 Nationalist planes bombed the city, reducing Republican positions to ruins. Nationalist troops immediately crossed the Cinca River and occupied the town, Nationalist reports claimed. The aerial attack on Fraga was the greatest mass raid in the history of aerial civil war within a month.
The Nationalist forces continued their crushing assault on Catalonia. driving crumbling Republican lines into retreat at many points along the warfare.
Republican reports claimed, however, that the Republicans had' been halted along the river a half mile outside Fraga.—United Press.
