Tokyo, Feb. 5.
An explanation of the 1940-41 extraordinary military budget was given at a plenary session of the Budget Committee of the House of Representatives today by Mr, Yukio Sakurauchi, Finance Minister.
The budget totals Y.4,460,000,000 of which Y¥.2/973,000,000 is the extraordinary army budget, Y,737,000,000 the extraordinary navy budget and 'Y.750,000,000 to be held in reserve.
He said ¥.3,673,000,000 of thei Y¥.4,480,000,000 would be taken from j general accounts and Y-158,000;000 from special accounts and: special taxes levied for the North China conflict. Other sources of revenue cover the remaining amount.
Eleven supplementary estimates were introduced, covering additional expenses for the relief of families of soldiers and sailors. Money for these appropriations could be raised by economizing in various Governmental departments.
